What Is Gouty Arthritis?

Ankylosing Spondylitis. This is inflammation of the spine which can result in the vertebrae being fused together so that the spine is rigid. When seen on an x-ray plate the spine is normally said to look like bamboo and not surprisingly is sometimes referred to as a bamboo spine. We do not know what causes this sort of arthritis but it is thought that heredity is a factor.
Gout. Frequently spoken of as the ‘disease of kings’ gout results from an accumulation of uric acid. This leads to sharp crystals in the joints which cause inflammation and pain. Gout normally takes hold of the knees, wrists and the ‘bunion’ joint in the big toe. While heredity can play a part in gout, the food you eat and various medicines can also cause the condition.
Arthritis also appears alongside other conditions where it is not the principle illness but is a major player in your condition. These conditions include:
Reactive Arthritis. As its name suggests, this sort of arthritis is a reaction to an intestinal infection or a sexually transmitted disease. It is quite common for reactive arthritis to appear together with both conjunctivitis and urethritis.
There are also a variety of conditions where arthritis fills a small part:
Paget’s Disease. In Paget’s disease the process of degeneration and re-building of the bones is speeded-up producing larger, softer and weaker bones than is usual. This in turn can produce arthritis in the joints particularly of the skull, ankles, hips, knees and spine.

Make cleaning far simpler by using an extra-long extension cord on your vacuum so that you are not required to continually bend down to unplug the vacuum and plug it in again.
